Hello, I’m Michael Francis, a counselor who is dedicated to helping you navigate the challenges of life.

I’m a licensed professional counselor with years of experience helping people name their stories and heal from their personal and relational challenges. I’m passionate about providing you with a safe, nonjudgmental space to be seen and heard. As we hold the space of your story with strength and tenderness-I believe you will find yourself living the life that was intended for you to live.

My Approach

My approach is multifaceted due to the unique nature of each person and what they need to move towards healing. We are integrated beings, so it’s important that we honor the differences of each person and approach someone’s life as a whole: including the body, the mind, and the spirit. In the safety of a nonjudgmental space, you can explore your thoughts and emotions, gain clarity, and develop the tools you need. I am here to help you navigate the ups and downs of life, uncover your strengths, and work through the things that are holding you back.

I believe that when we remember the and name the painful stories of our past in a safe and connected relationship the event remains the same, but the story of the event changes. From a place of safety, you can begin to heal and change internally and externally. Whether you have been dealing with the darkness of depression, riddled with anxiety, find yourself in unhealthy relational dynamics, or have habits that aren’t life giving, I am here to support you every step of the way.

I take your whole personhood into account and utilize Narrative Focused Trauma Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Experiential Therapy, and other approaches to be sure I am meeting each client where they are at in their journey.

  • Narrative Focused Trauma Therapy

    This approach allows us to explore your story and the places where you lost yourself due to pain, shame, trauma, and relational disconnect. As we discover the places where your story has been lost, we can navigate the way you learned to survive in this world and re-write those stories. This process helps us uncover and heal the parts of you that are still wounded, inviting them from a posture of contempt to one of kindness. It is from a place of kindness that we can experience healing.

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

    Internal Family Systems see the person as having multiple parts within us, each with distinct emotions and beliefs. Each part operates with good intent, but at times are stuck in harmful roles. I help to guide clients towards understanding each part with compassion and curiosity, while listening to our burdened parts to move them towards healing. When we find compassion towards the burdened parts, we can find a new peace within ourselves.

  • Holistic Framework

    Similar to the way a tree’s rings tell a story of the tree’s life, our bodies keep the score of the trauma we have experienced, which means we must address the whole person: body, mind, and spirit. As integrated beings we must become aware of the wellness that is needed in each category to find balance. By teaching you to become mindfully aware of your body we can identify the type of care that will be most beneficial to you as an individual.
